I would look forward to hearing from anyone who may have more info."

Fonda was from Cohoes, Watervliet, Albany area of NY. Henry married Alida (Lydia Funk) and resided in Watervliet/Troy.  They had four sons, John, Peter, Walter and Howard.  (Peter was my great grandfather).  I have found Peter's and Walters graves at the Reformed Church Cemetery, Niskayuna, but have yet to find Henry, Alida, John or Walter.  The info that I have gathered came mostly from the 1880 census.  There may have been more children after the four boys, but I have yet to locate any additional names.

Charles U. Foster, email cufoster@fastdial.net, writes: My great grandfather, George I. Foster was a member of the regiment. We have the commission papers, the first one dated October 1861 effective January 1862, and to 1st Lt dated April 1862 effective October 16, 1862. He was never wounded, but on account of disability was mustered out in December 1862. Probably a good thing or we wouldn't be around today!!!!!!  In 1864 he went with his brothers to Dakota Territory. He ended up in Fargo, the Dakota Territory where our family has remained until this date (although I now live in Duxbury, Massachusetts.) His parents were Albert and Clarissa (Maxon) Foster. I'll be sending along dues to join MAGCWRT. I am originally from Cortland and now live on the gulf coast in Mississippi, near Gulfport. I work with NASA at Stennis Space Center.
