G, no date; retransferred, April 12, 1864; promoted corporal, no date; wounded in action, June 18, 1864, near Petersburg, Va.; discharged for disability caused by wound, May 31, 1865, at Alexandria, Va. Medical and Surgical History--Part II, Volume II Chapter IX.--Wounds And Injuries Of The Upper Extremities. Section IV.--Injuries Of The Shaft Of The Humerus. reports his wound as follows: "O'Brien, E., Pt., H, 76th New York, age 22. June 18, 19, '64. Right; flap; by Surg. G. W. Motcalf, 76th N. Y. Disch'd Dec. 23, 1865; pensioned. Spec. 566."
